BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 2, 2025

The Yabra FC boys repeated as the Belize District Football Association (BDFA) U-17 champions by a 2-1 victory over the Belize United U-17 boys in the 2024-2025 Closing Season finals at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City on Friday evening, May 30.

Belize United – BDFA U-17 Boys 2024-2025 Closing Season Sub-Champions

An error by Belize United allowed Esmond “Bagga” Sanker (5’) to catch goalkeeper Noe Flores outside his box, and Sanker nimbly sidestepped Flores to drill the ball into the empty net: 1-0. Sanker completed his brace (60’) to clinch the title for Yabra, after Barack Morey (43’) had equalized to finish a corner kick from Jaheem “Yellow” Flowers.

Belize United’s Jacob Joseph and Jonathan Quiroz pressed for the winning goal, supported by Jahvyn Clarke, Jaheem Flowers, and Kevin Munoz, but Yabra defenders Tyrone Linarez, Criston Linares, Davian Humes and Thomas Mclaughlyn frustrated their every try. Luis Oliva and Herwin Godoy came off the Belize United bench to help, but Yabra’s Tyrique Frazer and Tyler Garcia joined the fray to help secure the 2-1 win.
