The five persons were taken to prison after being unable to meet bail

Today, Kaylani Gentle, 27, Marcelle Valles, 30, Delia Martinez, 21, Jose Moralez, 47, and Pedro Campos, 24, were all charged with drug trafficking when they appeared over at Magistrate’s Court #8.

According to police, at 3:30 yesterday evening the San Pedro residents were socializing at Captain Guts Bar in San Pedro when a raid of the bar was conducted by police looking for illegal drugs and firearms.

When the police arrived at the table where the five persons were and searched an ashtray that was under the table, they found 20 very small parcels of suspected crack cocaine. All five persons, along with the suspected drugs, were taken to the police station, where the parcels were weighed and amounted to 1.47 grams.

Gentle was additionally charged with drug possession after police found a pipe which allegedly contained 0.17 grams of suspected powder cocaine inside her cigarette pack.

Initially, everyone but Martinez had pleaded not guilty to their charge, but after learning that she could possibly face a three-year jail sentence and a $10,000 fine, she changed her plea to not guilty. They were then offered bail of $6,000 and one surety of the same amount, but were unable to meet their bail and were remanded to prison until that bail is met, or at their next adjournment scheduled for December 5, 2013.
