Last night’s murder of Guy Fuller, Jr., 34, at his apartment home on Banak Street, where his wife and children also live, proves that not even our homes are safe havens anymore.
Fuller, a mechanic and tattoo artist, was entertaining two friends at his burglar-barred apartment at around 7 p.m. in the living room.
Police say that two other men entered Fuller’s burglar-barred dwelling (bottom, right, of a 2-storey apartment split in four), which was open while he was entertaining his first two guests, when a third man entered behind the two. That third man then pulled out a firearm and chased Fuller into the kitchen.
It is not known whether the third man, the gunman, came with the two men who entered the house before him, or if any of the three men were friends of Fuller, or his two guests.
The gunman then shot Fuller nine times: three times in the left side of the head, once in the left side of the jaw, twice in the left arm, once in the right upper back, once in the center of the abdomen, and once in the right side of the chest.
Fuller fell to the kitchen floor and died on the spot. The gunman escaped before the police could arrive. Police didn’t specify if the two men who had come before the gunman, had gone before they arrived.
By all indications, the two guests took cover when the gunman started firing, and the police met them at the Fuller’s residence when they responded.
Fuller’s family, who were not at home at the time of his murder, showed up, and they were grief-stricken and shocked at the ruthless disregard for life that the gunman displayed.
His family chose not to sleep at home that night after the scene was processed and the body was removed.
They refused to comment to Amandala, but all accounts of Fuller’s character are that he was hard-working and quiet.
He leaves behind a wife and four children. Fuller’s older brother is a police officer.
Police say that they have three persons detained for questioning, but no charges have been filed as yet.
With Troy Bowen’s death due to his injuries, the unofficial murder count for this year is 95, with exactly four months to go.
