Asinine gun laws

The Editor Amandala
Dear Editor,

May I suggest you research your archives, to find out if the Bar Association of Belize, or indeed any individual member, has ever made a statement, either at the introduction or at any time since, regarding the use and effectiveness of these draconian gun control laws.

Probably not, for two reasons. Most of the leaders of the legislature, on both sides of the divide, are members of the legal profession. It is they who pass proposals into law for us all to obey.

If we fail to obey, their colleagues will be only to delighted to step forward to defend us, and charge outrageous fees, which, for many, for one day’s effort, will garner a sum on which many Belizean families have to live for an entire month.

And so, the rich get richer, the poor get screwed.

Sincerely
.jonO
