SportsBasketball community mourns loss of long-standing referee, Leroy Clother

SAN IGNACIO/SANTA ELENA, Cayo District, Thurs. July 12, 2018– The Belize Basketball Federation (BBF), National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) and the Belize Association of Basketball Officials (BABO) join the entire basketball community in extending our sincere condolences to the family of Leroy Clother for their tragic loss. Leroy has been serving as a referee in Belize for many years, and his service to the development of basketball was invaluable. Our sympathies go out to his family, friends and loved ones, as our basketball community continues to mourn his loss.

(Amandala Sports Ed. NOTE: Our sincere condolences also from the sports desk to our former football teammate Kent “Takeoff” Clother and other members of the Clother family. I last encountered Leroy when he was the Match Commissioner at a football game earlier this year at the MCC, where he had served for many years as a referee. Our relationship was always one of cordiality and respect. R.I.P. sportsman/official extraordinaire, Leroy Clother.)
