BELMOPAN, Mon. Jan. 9, 2017–Happy New Year to all!

I am pleased to once again share with you the results of the games held over the weekend in the Belmopan Football Association (BFA) First Division Tournament.  Here are the results of the return legs (game 2) of the Quarterfinals, played on Saturday and Sunday, January 7 & 8, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.

Quarterfinals (game 2) results

In the opener on Saturday, Salvapan Juventus dropped Cotton Tree, 2-0, with goals from Bertan Bermudez (22’) and Scott Casey (62’). Aggregate score: 5-3 in favor of Salvapan Juventus. The nightcap saw Capital United with the 3-2 win over Wingz FC. Johnny Cardenas struck twice (22’ & 59’) and Michael Lewis (68’) got the other for Capital United; while Wingz FC got a goal apiece from Rudy Daniel Padilla (20’) and Stuart Jenkins (39’). Aggregate score: 8-4 in favor of Capital United.

The opener on Sunday ended 1-0 in favor of AC Milan over Madrid FC, on a goal by Enrique Gonzales (44’). After 90 minutes, the aggregate score was 2-2 so they proceeded, to penalty kicks, where A.C. Milan prevailed, 2-0. Enrique Gonzales and Lincoln Wiltshire converted for A.C. Milan, while Madrid FC missed all their penalties. And in the nightcap game, Roaring Creek United won, 7-4, over Maya Mopan Rangers. Shaking the net for Roaring Creek were Kenny Williams (2’ & 6’), Orin Reneau (19’ & 30’), Barrington Moro (20’ & 22’) and Amir Torres (41’); while Maya Mopan got goals from Dani Sub (10’ & 80’), Samuel Benjamin (62’) and Francisco Coc, Jr. (88’). Aggregate score: 14-6 in favor of Roaring Creek United.

Semifinals this weekend

The tournament now moves into its Semifinals Stage; remaining standing are the top four teams of the competition.  Both legs of the semis are scheduled for this coming weekend, with Game 1 playing on Friday, and Game 2 playing on Sunday at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.

Friday, January 13 (Semifinals Game 1)
7:00 p.m. – A.C. Milan vs Capital United
9:00 p.m. – Roaring Creek United vs Salvapan Juventus
Sunday, January 15 (Semifinals Game 2)
2:00 p.m. – Salvapan Juventus vs Roaring Creek United
4:00 p.m. – Capital United vs A.C. Milan
