BTL “Midnight Pass” crashes

GeneralBTL “Midnight Pass” crashes

BELIZE CITY, Sat. Aug. 4, 2018– In today’s information era, the availability of data at a reasonable price has become a necessity for many.

Internet access in Belize from the two telecommunications companies, Belize Telemedia Limited (BTL) and Smart, is very expensive.

Internet users, however, have been purchasing internet access at reduced rates from Belize Telemedia Limited via a special promotion dubbed “Midnight Pass” that lasts from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

For $2.50 a customer can get 2.2 gigabytes of data and for $4.00 one can get 4 gigabytes of data.

Over the past few days, however, when one follows the on-line procedures to make the data purchase on the BTL network, the system deducts the money from customers’ credit, but the data is not given.

A call to a representative from BTL’s customer service has confirmed that the system with the “Midnight Pass” is down.

The customer service representative was unable to say when the system would be back up and was unable to say what the cause of the crash was, but said that their technicians were trying to resolve the issue. BTL also claims that it is attempting to issue refunds to customers who did not receive the data package they purchased.
