Buttonwood Bay tarpon

LettersButtonwood Bay tarpon

Dear Editor,

These pictures were taken in front of my home on Seashore Drive, Buttonwood Bay. It is the largest tarpon I have seen in many years! It measured 6 feet and I believe could very well have been over 200 pounds.

The fish had no injuries, but lay dead near the stone wall on the grass. It looks to me like the tarpon was feeding on sprats or shrimps and was attacked either by a shark or crocodile and when it jumped to escape, it jumped straight on shore and could not get back into the sea ….so unfortunate.
