SAN PEDRO, Ambergris Caye, Belize District, Thurs. July 5, 2018– Cliff Kirk, 60, an American businessman who owns Casa Brisas in northern San Pedro, is fighting for his life in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Kirk, a longtime resident of San Pedro, was shot in the right side of the head by one of four masked thieves who went to his house to rob him at about 11:00 this morning.
Police said that Kirk was walking down his stairs to go into his yard when four masked men came up and one of them fired a shot at him which struck him in the head.
When Kirk fell down, the thieves rushed inside his house and ransacked it. They stole a bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash, a 9mm pistol and a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun. They then escaped.
People in the area rushed Kirk to the San Pedro Polyclinic, where he was given initial treatment. He was then transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
The San Pedro Sun said that Casa Brisas is located about 10 miles north of San Pedro Town, and is only accessible by boat.
