Primary school volleyball

The Corozal District Primary School Volleyball Competition for males (M) and females (F) continues with games at the Andres Campos Civic Center. Here are the results for games played from last Wednesday, May 29, to yesterday, Wednesday, June 5.

On Wednesday, May 29, (M) Guadalupe RC won over Corozal Methodist, 25-23, 25-14; (F) San Victor RC defeated Libertad Methodist in 3 sets, 25-15, 23-25, 15-10; (M) Libertad Methodist dropped San Victor RC, 25-4, 25-15; and (F) Corozal Methodist won over Guadalupe RC in 3 sets, 25-23, 19-25, 15-13.

On Friday, May 31, it was (M) Copper Bank RC over St. Francis Xavier, 25-14, 25-11; (M) Corozal Methodist over Church of Christ, 25-16, 25-10; (F) Corozal Methodist over Church of Christ, 25-8, 25-16; and (M) Guadalupe RC over Assemblies of God, 25-8, 25-16.

Three more games were played on Monday, June 3: (M) Corozal Methodist won over Libertad Methodist, 25-11, 25-16; (F) Corozal Methodist dropped Libertad Methodist, 25-20, 25-17; and (M) St. Francis Xavier defeated Assemblies of God, 25-23, 26-24.

The tournament continued yesterday, Wednesday, June 5, with 5 games: (M) Copper Bank RC clipped San Victor RC, 25-10, 25-11; (F) Church of Christ dropped Libertad Methodist in 3 sets, 16-25, 25-7, 15-10; (M) Libertad Methodist won over Church of Christ, 25-17, 25-19; (M) Guadalupe RC stopped St. Francis Xavier RC, 25-7, 25-10; and (M) Corozal Methodist defeated Assemblies of God, 25-16, 25-11.

The Mayor Campos 6-A-Side Football Tournament had 3 games on Thursday, May 30, at the Andres Campos Civic Center Grounds. Progresso FC won over San Antonio Young Stars, 2-0; Coro Dynamites dropped Barrio Boys, 2-0; and Mira Mar Dolphins drew with Xaibe FC, 2-2.

Interoffice football

The Interoffice Mayor’s Cup 2013 tournament had games at the Andres Campos Civic Center Grounds on Wednesday, May 29, Saturday, June 1, and yesterday, Wednesday, June 5. On May 29, Belize Bank bombarded Corozal Free Zone, 4-0; and Transport/Ministry of Works dropped Atlantic Bank Tropic Air, 2-0. On June 1, it was CTC Keep Czl Clean over Corozal Sports Council Border Management, 2-1; and BDF bombing Police, 6-0. And yesterday, June 5, BWS shut out CZL Free Zone, 5-0; and Morales Transport bombed Bowen & Bowen Stout, 8-1.

Open volleyball

Here are the results from 3 games played in the Hon. Hugo Patt Open Volleyball Tournament on Saturday night, June 1. In game 1, Corozal won over Paraiso, 25-19, 25-13, 25-22. In game 2, San Narciso defeated Calcutta in 5 sets, 25-11, 25-16, 18-25, 20-25, 15-5. And in game 3, undefeated Hardcore won over Classics in 5 sets, 26-24, 20-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-9.

The Round Robin ends with games this Saturday.
Saturday, June 8, starting 7:00 p.m.
Game 1 – Paraiso vs San Joaquin
Game 2 – Corozal vs Hardcore

Leading in the standings so far are: Hardcore – 24 pts, San Pedro Island Boys – 21 pts, San Narciso – 18 pts, Corozal – 12 pts, and Classics – 12 pts.

NB: Only four (4) teams will advance to the next round of the Hon. Hugo Patt Open Male Volleyball Tournament 2013.
