COROZAL TOWN–On Friday, August 29, at Corozal Civic Center at 10:00 a.m., the Corozal Wildfire Basketball Club (CWBC) hosted Caribbeans Basketball Club from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

In the first game, in the 8-10 age group, Corozal Wildfire defeated Caribbeans Chetumal, 25-8. Top scorer for Wildfire was Franco Tun, who finished with 11 points 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Meleena Sabido had 6 pts 5 rebs and 2 stls, and Anwar Jundi had 4 pts 10 rebs and 2 blocks.

The second game was for U-15 youth, and was also played at the Corozal Civic Center, beginning at 12-noon. Again, it was the Corozal Wildfire defeating Chetumal Caribbeans, this time by a 35-10 score. Top scorers for Wildfire were Kejon Sankey with 10 pts 3 assts 4 stls, Dejon Sankey 5 pts 4 assts, and Kristan Puerto 8 pts 11 rebs 4 blks.

Then on Saturday, September 6, Corozal Wildfire traveled to Bacalar, Quintana Roo, Mexico to play against Laguneros Basketball Club at Bacalar’s Dome in the 8-10 age group. The game tipped off at 10:00 a.m., and Corozal Wildfire won, 30-15, over Laguneros Basketball Club. For Wildfire, Stanley Gonzales finished with 12 pts 2 assts, Reginald Sankey 11 pts 5 stls 3 assts, and Jordan Cassanova 6 pts 6 stls 4 assts.
