BELIZE CITY, Wed. June 8, 2016–Hello, cricket fans and families! Under the auspices of the Belize National Cricket Association, the Harrison Parks 2016 Cricket Competition continues this weekend with the starting of the playoff games.
The teams that reached the playoff spots are: In Zone One – Excellence in first place; Easy Does It at second; and Western Eagles at third. In Zone Two – Berlan in first place; Wicked 11 at second; and Sunrise at third.
These teams (2nd and 3rd place) will play against each other in a best-of-three series. Thanks to our sponsors, Belikin and Smart.
This weekend we will see Western Eagles taking on Wicked 11 at Flowers Bank; and Sunrise goes to Lemonal against Easy Does It. The two first place teams wait on the winners of these teams for their challenge.
I wish for the best to all participating teams. I also ask that all players respect all decisions given by the umpires. Also, please respect your opponents and your team players. And most importantly, respect yourselves.
In this space I take the pleasure of congratulating some scorers who have done so well, and continue to do an excellent job. Your job is very important; and the time to congratulate you all was long overdue. From Lemonal, Lynn Banner and Marilyn “Sista” Muslar – Your input in what you do is very well done! From Flowers Bank, Francine Robinson and her sister, Sharra – To you I say, job well done! You take full interest of the scoring with such passion. From Belmopan, Mr. Joel Westby and his wife – You two are so remarkable! From Rancho Dolores, Karen Pakeman – You have done, and are still doing a splendid job! From Lords Bank, Carol Parks (Young) – You not only put numbers as they come in, but you take the time and patience to put every detail in the book! That makes it very easy for someone to get detailed stats. Then, while you’re scoring, you try to help your partner in following the proper procedure in scoring. From Willows Bank, Daphne McFadzean – You might not be at a lot of games, but when you are present, the job you do is well done! From Double Head, Ethel Garcia – For a very long time I’ve seen you scoring, and I admire your interest in what you do! There are more scorers that do a good job, but they do not score as often. So, you that I have mentioned, your job is not going un-noticed. I congratulate you, and wish that you continue doing what you are doing! You all play an integral part this way.
That’s all for this week, folks. Come out and support our game. Happy weekend to all!
