Cricket Update – Florida Cricket Academy visits

BELIZE CITY, Wed. May 2, 2018– Greetings from the Belize National Cricket Association (BNCA)!

Only four games were played over the weekend of April 28 & 29; the results are as follows:

On Saturday, April 28

Summer Fever won over Western Eagles in Rancho Delores with a score of 268 to 116 (Summer Fever declared at 39.3 overs; it was a 40-overs game) with one wicket to spare.  For Summer Fever, Jermain Baizer top scored with 78 runs not out, and Travis Stephenson took 5 wickets.  For Western Eagles, Dirk Sutherland top scored with 26 runs, and Norman Pook took four wickets.

Police won over Excellence in Belmopan with a score of 139 to 122.  For Police, Walton Banner top scored with 35 runs and took 3 wickets; Keenan Flowers and Herbert Banner also took 3 wickets each.  For Excellence, Ian Broaster top scored with 31 runs, and Jonathan Benjamin took 5 wickets.

Suga Boys won over Brilliant in Crooked Tree with a score of 73 to 71, with five wickets to spare.  For Carmelita’s Suga Boys, Alton Conorquie top scored with13 runs, and Jamie Wade took five wickets.  For Brilliant, Landis Wade top scored with 25 runs, and G. Gillett took 2 wickets.

On Sunday, April 29

Easy Does It won over Big Deal with a score of 179 to 53.  For Easy Does It, Kenroy Reynolds top scored with 50 runs and also took 5 wickets.  For Big Deal, Brian Casasola top scored with 22 runs, and Justin Sutherland and Ryan Jones took 4 wickets each.

Break for Florida Academy visit

Once again, there will be a break in the regular competition on the weekend of May 5 & 6, as the BNCA will be hosting the Florida Cricket Academy Cricket Team from Miramar, Florida. There will be 20/20 matches on Saturday and Sunday in Bermudian Landing.

Matches scheduled:

Saturday, May 5
10:00 a.m. – 20/20 Over-50 match (since we were asked to organize another one, as the first one was a big hit; over-50 players are welcome to sign up).
2:00 p.m. – 20/20 with the Florida Cricket Academy vs Belize Senior Team

Sunday, May 6
10:00 a.m. – U-15 20/20
2:00 p.m. – Florida Cricket Academy vs Belize U-19 Team
