CSSSA high school football continues at MCC

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 16, 2017–The 3-week long regular season of the 2016-2017 football competition for the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) completed its first week of games on Saturday at the MCC Grounds. In our last issue, we reported on games played last Monday through Wednesday.

On Thursday night last week, (F) SCA clipped Gwen Liz (GLH), 1-0, on a goal by Hanna Kay Williams, and (M) Maude Williams (MWH) edged Nazarene High (NHS), 2-1, with a goal each from Egbert Myers and Jaheem Thomas; while Mynor Hernandez scored for NHS.

On Friday, January 13, (F) Pallottti and Wesley played to a 0-0 draw. And (M) SJC shelled Belize High (BHS), 5-nil, with 2 goals from Dion Cacho, and 1 apiece from Shemar Waight, Luis Orosco and Carlos Guerra.

3 male (M) games were played on Saturday, January 14. In the opener, (M) Gwen Liz shut out E.P. Yorke (EPY), 4-0, with 2 goals from Michael Deshield and 1 each from Kieron Patnett and Orlando Velasquez. Next it was Sadie Vernon (SVT) and Nazarene High (NHS) playing to a 2-2 draw. Cion Augustine struck twice for Sadie Vernon, while Michael Seguro and Michael Robinson each scored for Nazarene. And in the nightcap, Maude Williams got the 2-1 win over Ladyville Tech. Tyrel Estrada and Egbert Myers scored for Maude Williams, while Malcolm Leslie tallied for Ladyville Tech.
