CSSSA high school football continues at MCC

SportsCSSSA high school football continues at MCC

The Central Secondary Schools Sports Association’s (CSSSA) high school football tournament is in full swing at the MCC Grounds since kick off last week Wednesday. Following are the results so far in both female (F) and male (M) games:

In Wednesday’s opener, (F) SCA and Gwen Liz High (GLH) played to a 0-0 draw; and then (M) Wesley (WES) bombarded Belize High School (BHS), 13-0, with goals from Kenyon Lewis (4), Kieron Young (4), Marquez Stamp (2), and Kieffer McKenzie, Tyrell Rowley and Shemar Moore with 1 apiece.

On Thursday, January 9, (F) Wesley clipped Excelsior High (EHS), 3-1, with goals from Erica Milligan, Shanice Neal and Denneshia Thurton; while Bethany Gonguez scored for Excelsior. And (M) SJC dropped ACC, 2-0, with both goals coming from Sydney Bradley.

The first game on Friday, January 10, saw (F) SCA with the 3-0 win over BHS, with goals from Jodi Pott (2) and Jada Myvett. And in the nightcap, (M) Gwen Liz edged Excelsior, 3-2. Kenroy Linares (2) and Clinton Dawson scored for Gwen Liz; while Michael Bowen and Jamal Ford tallied for Excelsior.

Four games, 1 female and 3 male, were played on Saturday, January 11. In the opener, (F) Gwen Liz High drew 0-0 with Excelsior High. Then (M) SJC walloped Belize High School, 17-1. Sharing the scoring for SJC were Dmitri Fabro (6), Sydney Bradley (4), Charles James (3), and Jahron Morales, Luis Acosta, Tariq James and Rayan Figueroa with 1 each. Ricardo Oyuela got the lone goal for BHS. Next, it was (M) ACC with the 1-nil win over Gwen Liz High, courtesy of a goal by Sergio Luna. And in the last game of the day, (M) Wesley and Excelsior High played to a 2-2 draw. Shamar Moore and Keeron Young shook the net for Wesley, while Michael Bowen and James Fitzgibbon split the uprights for Excelsior.

Games for this week are:
Mon. Jan. 13 – (F) WES vs BHS; (M) WES vs ACC
Tue. Jan. 14 – (F) SCA vs EHS; (M) SJC vs GLH
Wed. Jan. 15 – (F) GLH vs WES; (M) BHS vs EHS
Thurs. Jan. 16 – (F) EHS vs BHS; (M) BHS vs GLH

There will be no games on Friday, January 17, when the primary school Nationals will be held at the MCC.
