Here are Week 3 results from the Dangriga Basketball Association’s 2017 tournament games held last week at the Ecumenical Basketball Auditorium.

On Thursday, August 17, Benguche Flames won over Ghans Stars, 65 to 30. Quinton Bowen had 19 pts 8 rebs, and Frederick Williams 14 pts 5 rebs for Benguche; while for Ghans, Shedrak Jorgenson had 9 pts 4 rebs, and Bryton Augustine 9 pts 4 rebs.

In game 1 on Friday, August 18, it was Foreshore Pelicans over Ghans Stars, 78 to 42 Leading Pelicans were Glency Lopez 21 pts 2 rebs 2 stls, and Leslie Williams 13 pts 3 rebs; while Marion

Young had 17 pts 6 rebs for Ghans. In game 2, Benguche Flames defeated Harlem Shockers, 66 to 49. Quinton Bowen 18 pts 3 rebs, and Raheem Thurton 8 pts led Benguche; while Donell Arzu had 21 pts 6 rebs, and Dylan “Chris” Flores 21 pts 4 rebs for Harlem.

The opener on Saturday, August 19, saw Benguche Flames winning, 69 to 62, over Hopkins Assassins. High scoreres were Quinton Bowen 23 pts 12 rebs, Dykes Castillo 16 pts 6 rebs, and Lisani Lambey 11 pts 8 assts. In the nightcap, Foreshore Pelicans got the 72 to 66 win over New Site Raiders.

Glency Lopez led Foreshore with 30 pts 4 rebs 2 assts 4 stls; while Johnard Castillo had 19 pts 8 rebs for New Site.

Upcoming games for this weekend will be the final games for regular season. Three (3) teams have already made it to the Top-4 playoffs. They are: Benguche Flames, Harlem Shockers and Foreshore Pelicans. Only one more team needs to make it, and it is between Hopkins Assassins and New Site Raiders, which will be decided this weekend at Ecumenical Basketball Auditorium.

Thursday, August 24
6:00 p.m. – Harlem Shockers vs Hopkins Assassins
8:30 p.m. – New Site Raiders vs Benguche Flames

Friday, August 25
6:30 p.m. – New Site Raiders vs Ghans Stars
8:30 p.m. – (2 power houses clash) Benguche Flames vs Foreshore Pelicans

Saturday, August 26 (one game only)
5:00 p.m. sharp – Hopkins Assassins vs Foreshore Pelicans

Next weekend, the Top-4 playoffs will commence.

Cycling

In conjunction with this year’s September celebrations, Dangriga Town Council, in collaboration with the Dangriga Amateur Cycling Association, will be hosting the first Criterium race in Dangriga, which will be 10 laps around Dangriga Town on Monday, September 11, which will be a public and bank holiday. This 10- lap Criterium will start (and finish) in front of Kay’s Kool Spot on George Price Drive at 10:00 a.m. This race is for amateur riders only; no Elite riders. Registration is $10.00 per rider. First place – $250.00; second place – $150.00; third place – $100.00; fourth place – $50.00. Big prizes for this 10-lap Criterium on Monday, September 11.
