Belize City, Tues. Feb. 13, 2018– Dangriga’s Demille Flores, 14, will attend the Rush Select Program Presidents’ Day Tournament as one of the top 16 players in his age group. Demille had attended and participated last year in the Rush Select 2003/2004 Boys ID Camp, an event for 60 boys and 60 girls of the U13 – U15 age groups where the Rush Select staff trained and evaluated them.

He leaves tomorrow Wednesday, February 14, via American Airlines for Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and then on to Phoenix, Arizona. He is scheduled to return on February 20.

Some of the costs of his travel expenses are being defrayed through generous contributions from businesses Joseph & Taylor, BEL and Gentrac.

The Rush Select Technical Staff selected him based on nominations from Rush Technical Directors there.

The Presidents’ Day Tournament is a college showcase tournament February 15 – 19, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. The boys, part of this premier tournament will feature 200 teams, selected from Rush ID camps in 30 states and from their club partners in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, South America, Mexico and Canada.

The Rush Select Program is the elite program in Rush Soccer, bringing together the top boys and girls players from Rush clubs around North America and the Caribbean to compete. It began in 2004 when players from Virginia Rush, Colorado Rush, and Rush Pikes Peak played in the US Club National Soccer Tournament, where they won a National Championship.

Since 2004, it has expanded from 22 teams, ages U13 – U18. The Rush Select Program Technical Staff includes many of the top coaches from Rush clubs across the United States. This legendary, highly selective event has cemented itself as one of the top tournaments in the country. In 2017, 600 teams applied to participate in PDT. Eventually 456 outstanding teams, 200 boys and 256 girls from 102 clubs were accepted.

Thousands of spectators, coaches and the local news media descend upon Arizona every February to watch thousands of players showcase their talents at PDT. All accepted teams will play four highly competitive games over the course of the weekend.

Technical Directors at every Rush club submit nominations to the Rush Select Program each summer for players they feel are deserving of being considered for selection by Rush Select staff.

The college showcase tournament in Phoenix, Arizona attracts 100s of college coaches each year and features top level competition against club teams from around the country.

Rush Soccer is a worldwide organization that is the largest organized youth soccer club in the world with over 45,000 members across the globe. Each year, Rush Soccer puts together the Rush Select program to showcase the best players from around the country and in some cases from around the world.
