ORANGE WALK TOWN, Wed. July 27, 2016–Andrew Chavarria Tournament

The semifinals in the Andrew Chavarria Football Tournament took place on Sunday, July 24, at the Technical Field in Orange Walk Town. In the first semifinal, Sinbad came from behind to drop Crystal, 3-1, with goals from Irvin Cardenas, Raheen Eagan and Osmar Duran, after Freddy Popper had given Crystal the 1-nil lead. And in the other semifinal, it was Heart N Soul with late second-half goals by Nelson Estrada and Albert Cassanova to clip Grumpy Strikers, 2-0, and secure a spot in the championship game.

The finals will be a part of Fiesta Rama Weekend at People’s Stadium this Sunday.

Sunday, July 31

2:00 p.m. – (Finals) Sinbad vs Heart N Soul

Five-A-Side semifinals

Semifinal games in the Orange Walk Five-A-Side Tournament, in both the Interoffice and Open Division categories, were played on Thursday night, July 21, at People’s Stadium.

Game 1, Interoffice, saw Odette’s and Elite Promos playing to a 1-1 draw in regulation. Nelson Estrada shook the net for Odette’s, while Alberto Cassanova scored a last minute goal to tie things up for Promos. In the penalty shootout, Odette’s prevailed, 5-4, to advance to the finals.

Game 2, Open Division, saw Aquarius secure the big 5-2 win over Stadium Strikers. Raheem Eagan and Ina Cal got 2 goals apiece, with Robie Cuello netting the other goal for Aquarius; while Zacarias Gonzales scored both goals for Strikers.

In game 3, the second Open Division semifinal, Landy’s edged Heart N Soul, 4-3. Shaking the net for Landy’s were Enrique Castillo with 2 goals, and Gabriel Perez and Darren McLaughlin with 1 apiece; Heart N Soul got a goal each from Hugo Estrada and Nelson Estrada, along with an own goal by Landy’s Titi Bruehier.

And in game 4, the other Interoffice semifinal, Town Board clipped Centaur, 3-2, with a goal apiece from Phillidelfo Quinones, Zacarias Gonzales and Alcapon Audinett.

The finals for both Interoffice and Open categories will take place on Friday night at People’s Stadium.

8:00 p.m. – (Interoffice) Odette’s vs Town Board
9:00 p.m. – (Open) Landy’s vs Aquarius.

U-10 Marathon

A U-10 Marathon takes place on Saturday, July 30, at People’s Stadium starting at 9:00 a.m. Teams participating are: Minions FC, Barca Shock, Real Madrid and Vibes Alive.

U-13 Tournament

The U-13 Tournament also kicks off on Saturday at People’s Stadium or at Fiesta Rama festivals.

Friday, July 29
9:30 a.m. – Black Wata vs Corozal Rising Stars
10:30 a.m. – Minions FC vs Barca Shock
