Gas prices rise yet again

GeneralGas prices rise yet again

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Apr. 26, 2018– A few days before the Easter holiday, the Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS) stated that the prices of fuel were going up, angering many Belizeans who were planning to travel.

Another hike in gas prices happened again earlier this month, and even though the month isn’t yet over, we can expect yet another rise in prices.

On March 27, the price of premium gas had risen by $0.15, the price of regular gas by $0.43, the price of diesel by $0.25, and the price of kerosene by $0.24.  April 1 saw a rise in the price of kerosene by $1.32.

On April 24, BBS had released information about another rise in prices, but had posted that the Ministry of Finance had recalled the change in prices. However, just as Belizeans were beginning to feel hopeful, BBS posted the revised version of the gas prices that would go into effect yesterday.

The new prices, which took effect yesterday are as follows:  The price of regular gas has risen from $10.65 to $11.06, and the price of diesel has risen from $10.01 to $10.70; while the price of premium gas remains at $11.39 and the price of kerosene remains at $7.87.
