Glenn Leslie, Jr., 33, shot in the presence of his son, 2

GeneralGlenn Leslie, Jr., 33, shot in the presence of his son, 2
Businessman Glenn Leslie, Jr., 33, was shot yesterday evening at around 2:50 in front of his business and in the presence of his two-year-old son by a dark complexioned man, who is said to have carried a .22 black revolver, and who had come on a bicycle.

Another assailant riding a separate bicycle also accompanied the gunman.

Leslie was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital by his fellow employees and, after receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to the left lower back, discharged from the hospital earlier this morning.

Leslie, lucky to be alive, spoke with us, along with his wife, this evening, reliving their terrible experience.

Leslie said that he was in his office, and when he looked out, he saw his son, 2, by the gate playing. Slowly, the child made it through the gate and onto Carnation Street, and Leslie decided to go get him.

But as Leslie attempted to pick the child up, a voice from behind demanded, “Gimme what you got.”

Leslie then turned, and saw a dark man wearing a cap. Leslie remained silent, while shielding his child, but the gunman, obviously a hardened killer, fired a single shot anyhow, hitting him in the lower back. Weakened by the shot, Leslie had to drop his son.

But this was just the start of an unbelievable, violent experience, because Leslie’s wife, fearing for their son’s life, impulsively ran out in an attempt to snatch him out of harm’s way, but she ran into the gunman, who pointed the gun directly at her face and pulled the trigger.

Fortunately, the gun did not go off.

As the gunman executed his evil mission, the other assailant, who had accompanied him, stood there and watched.

When he had gone outside for his son, Leslie had a hundred and forty-eight dollars and a cellular phone in his hands.

Both assailants then hurriedly picked up the money and phone, and ran, leaving one of the beach cruisers and a slipper behind.

Neighbors called the police, who quickly responded, but by this time, the two men had already fled, one running in the direction of Western Avenue, and the other towards the direction of Police Street.

Again, fortunately, the bullet that penetrated Leslie’s body missed vital organs such as his spleen, bladder, kidney, and lungs.

Police are currently investigating the matter, but the family is still in a state of shock, because they say they were not expecting this type of thing to occur.
