BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Sept. 22, 2016–Belize volleyball fans should be treated to some top level international volleyball, beginning this weekend, as Belize plays host to the Men’s Volleyball World Championship Qualifications Tournament at the SCA Multipurpose Center. The Panama and Guatemalan men’s teams were scheduled to arrive this morning by air, while Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras were expected by road this evening. The Dominican Republic arrives tomorrow afternoon.
The 7 participating teams – Belize, Dominican Republic, Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras – will compete in a round-robin tournament – 3 matches per day for 7 days, beginning Saturday, September 24, with the top 2 teams qualifying to the Continental Round, from which the top 5 teams go on to the World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria.
Matches are at 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. daily. Belize plays the final match at 7:30 p.m. each day, except on Thursday, September 29. Go, Belize!!
