BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Mar. 22, 2018– The condition of Kearney Thompson, 31, a laborer of Belize City who was at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in a critical condition after suffering from gunshot wounds in the lower right side of the back and in the left lower abdomen, took a turn for the worse, and he died at the hospital yesterday morning while undergoing treatment.

Information to us is that at about 7:00 Saturday evening, March 3, Thompson was sitting on a verandah in an apartment complex on Vernon Street, where he lives, when a gunman invaded the yard from behind and shot him.

Thompson was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where doctors who examined him found that the two bullets that hit him had caused major damage to his internal organs. Thompson, under the care of the doctors at the KHMH, fought valiantly for his life for 18 days, but he lost the fight yesterday.

Police are still looking for the person who shot Thompson. The motive for the shooting is still not known.
