GeneralPeter Castillo, 33, shot on Fabers Road

26 hours after one of the supervisors of Hon. Anthony “Boots” Martinez’s Southside Poverty Alleviation Project was killed, another of Minister Martinez’s employees was shot.

Peter Castillo, 33, of the Jane Usher Boulevard area, is fighting for his life at the Emergency Ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was shot in the jaw, leg and shoulder at about 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the junction of Fabers Road and Gill Street.

According to police reports, Castillo was riding his bicycle on Fabers Road towards Queen Charlotte Street, but when he reached the junction of Gill Street and Fabers Road, a gunman who was standing at the junction took out a gun and shot him. Castillo fell to the ground, and the gunman escaped.

He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he is reportedly in a critical condition.

Police are investigating, but so far, no one has been arrested nor any suspect detained.

Castillo’s shooting occurred two days after his fellow worker, Wilfred Peters III, a supervisor, was killed violently in his home around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, in the Racoon Street Extension area.

Peters III was sleeping in his house when gunmen kicked down his door, entered his house, and shot him to death. Police are also investigating that shooting.
