Amandala understands that Eluterio Chan, 88, was hit by a motorcycle as he was about to cross the highway between Miles 82 and 83 near the Ministry of Works in Ranchito.

Initial police investigations revealed that Chan was walking in a northerly direction when Juan Samayoa, 32, of Juventus Street, Orange Walk Town, hit him with the motorcycle as he (Samayoa) was travelling towards Orange Walk.

Police said that when they visited the area, they saw a red Honda motorcycle with no license plates, lying in the right lane of the highway facing a southern direction, with the mud guard dented and the hand brake damaged.
