BELMOPAN, Thurs. June 9, 2016–The Belmopan Football Association (BFA) came close to completing the Finals of the Simeon Lopez Kids U-13, Female U-17 and Youth U-15 Cup 2016 on Sunday, June 5, at the Governor General Football Park. All, but 1 of the scheduled games were completed.

Third place games

In the Female U-17 third place game, which got under way at 9:00 a.m., Central Site Bandits and Las Flores Latin Girls ended 0-0 in regulation, and in the penalty shootout, Central Site Bandits won, 2-1, to take third place. Cindy Chen and Marie Arnold converted for Central Site, while Diana Aparicio tallied for Las Flores.

Next was the Kids U-13 third place match, and again it was deadlocked in regulation, this time 1-1, with Angel Milian (22’) putting Police Cadets in front, while Cristian Membreno (41’) equalized for Piccini Rising Stars. In the ensuing penalty shootout, Piccini Rising Stars prevailed, 4-1, with goals from Jaheim Reynolds, Cristian Membreno, Antwone Lewis and Mchichal Duane; while only Robert Thomas converted for Police Cadets.

The Youths U-15 third place was decided in regulation, as Central Site Bandits dropped Piccini Rising Stars, 3-1, with goals from Rhajjed Reyes (34’ & 54’) and Wilfredo Galvez (62’); while Daijon Daniels (52’) scored the only goal for Piccini Rising Stars.

Championship Finals

The Youths U-15 championship final ended 1-1 between San Martin Medina’s I and Mountain View Revolution. Robert Palma (38’) shook the net for San Martin, while Jahmani Hope (35’) hit the target for Mountain View. San Martin Medina’s I had won game 1 the previous week by a 1-nil score, so they took the championship by an aggregate 2-1 margin.

In the Females U-17 finals game 2, San Martin Medina’s and Belmopan Compre Flames played to a scoreless (0-0) draw; they also drew 1-1 in their game 1 the previous week. In the penalty shootout to determine the champion, San Martin Medina’s won, 3-2, with goals from Ashley Rodriguez, Tavie Bennette and Lynice Valencia; while Libni Mojica and Viviannie Pivaral scored for Belmopan Compre Flames.

The last championship game, the Kids U-13 clash between YWAM Valencia and Mountain View Revolution was not played due to inclement weather. In their game 1 the previous week, YWAM had won 1-nil. Game 2 will be played this coming Sunday for the Kids U-13 championship.
