Some people are asking why are the teachers striking again, jeopardizing our children, the education of our kids. It is not that we are sacrificing our children?s education. It is just that we have to learn to stop tolerating shit. The things that are happening in our country are unbelievable, and if we don?t take a stand now as a country, it will never get better. I don?t know if we are ignorant to the fact that these things are happening or we are just plain stupid to be held back by the rash consequences that the Prime Minister wants to impose on us. We have to stand up as a people, as a nation, and show Said that enough is enough.

Just to jolt some of our memories. Said has sold most of our assets, if not all. We are now faced with millions to pay because of the raise of tax, while Ashcroft, Bowen, and the rest of Musa?s affiliates are being exempted from paying tax. We all have dues, too. Let?s pay them. Look at the millions owed by GOB due to the sale of BTL. 50,000 US dollars levied against us daily by the court in Miami because our Prime Minister thought it was wise to sign jurisdiction over to them. Refusal to give the 37% shares to Belizeans for 1 dollar when he could have given the rest toProsser at nocost at all. Among many others, this is the reason we strike.

My fellow Belizeans, it does not have any better to get, and if we do not put a stop to it now, there is no turning back. Belize is not for Said or anyone else who thinks that they solely own it. So now is the time to show Musa who are the owners of this beautiful country called Belize. Remember, my brothers and sisters, Said and his ministers are only representing us, and their wrongdoing is costing us while they are living well at our expense. They are not doing a good job. So it is time that we take them OUT.

Let?s look at the riot that took place downtown Albert Street in Belize City last week. Why do you think that it was so easy for riot to start? People are disgruntled about what is happening in our country.

1. Said, you said that you have a mandate and intend to maintain that mandate. I would like to know what is that mandate, because I am positively sure that we did not put you there to sell us out.

2. Said, you also said that NTUCB has 15,000 members and you have 50,000 members. That is an insult to this country and its people. Do you honestly believe that now? It is not a matter of electing a new Prime Minister. It is about getting back what we had. Not because you did not see 50,000 people marching in protest, that means they are still supporting you. Your intimidation is what stopped them, but I am proud to be a Belizean and I will be damned if I let you take that away from me.

3. Said, I was in a bus that took people to the convention in Cayo about two months back. There were certain people, I won?t mention any names but these people know who they are, that were giving out envelopes containing money – from about $25 to $100 to ensure that they be in support of the PUP candidates. Which is wrong! But what these people don?t realize, and I am now bringing it to their attention, that this is the same money that comes back to haunt us in the raise of taxes.

4. Said, you also said that as of Monday that any teacher or public officer who goes on strike will be risking disciplinary action taken against them, or even worse – dismissal. This is one of the main reasons that many of the public officers are afraid to come out and demonstrate. Said, you have stooped very low to publicly threaten the said people who have you where you are. As the article of the Tuesday Amandala stated, ?you did this to yourself.?

Public officers, I am telling you that Musa will still get rid of some of you because of the scarcity of money in the country. So if you want a better Belize tomorrow, let?s take them out now. Public officers, if you don?t know, I am telling you now that you have more power than any other union, because without you the government is at a standstill. The knowledge you have, that is the reason he wants you to believe he is a threat to you when in reality you are a threat to him and his ministry.

Said talks about stopping crime, but as Kenny Morgan said, he and Fonseca are the biggest offenders.

Although this issue is political, it is not party political, because if the Opposition was in they would have done the same, or maybe worse. It has been said that Mr. Barrow influenced some school students to assemble in front of Said?s house and voice their opinions. My people, do you think if everything was fine and dandy in our country, Mr. Barrow could have convinced anyone to assemble in front ofMusa?s house? Please, we would have to be crazy. That is just to prove that we have had enough.

Brothers and sisters, you saw the impact that BTL had on us when they closed off their service to us and all staff went on strike. Just imagine how fast we will get response from the government of this country if we have a country shutdown. Let?s shut down the country until we have gotten what we wanted. This is for the good of me, you, the born and the unborn children of this beautiful country we call Belize. Prime Minister, the calm is over. Solidarity forever. We shall not be moved!
