GeneralSydney Lamb, 42, executed on Casuarina St.

Three of his cousins have been murdered, the last being Shaquan Almendarez, 25, on October 22, 2017

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 23, 2017–Over the weekend, two murders and a string of other shootings occurred on the southside of Belize City. Police have confirmed that the first murder occurred sometime around 7:22 p.m. on Saturday night. The victim has been officially identified as Sydney Lamb, 42. He was known to many as “Belly.”

Information to Amandala is that seconds before he was killed, Lamb visited Ricky’s Shop on Casuarina Street, where he bought an “ideal”, a mosquito “fish” coil, and a cigarette. He was about to make his way to his home on Oleander Street when he was ambushed by a gunman on a bicycle.

A source revealed that after being shot once, Lamb fell on the street and the gunman got off his bicycle, went over and stood over him, and shot him twice more, in the head and chest.

Thereafter, the gunman reportedly searched Lamb’s pockets and stole his money. Surveillance cameras at the shop did not capture that part of the incident, however.

Today, Amandala spoke to the Lamb family, who told us that they believe that the intent behind Sydney Lamb’s murder might have been to steal $2,000 he had won in a card game in the area. According to them, gambling was his hobby.

His sister, Sharlene Lamb, said that she was at home on Saturday night when she got a call telling her that her brother had been killed. She had heard the shots, but never imagined that it was her brother. According to her, the last time she spoke to him was the day he was killed, and they had had a heated argument.
“I never know dat da mi di last time I mi wahn si my bredda,” she said.

She told our newspaper that she misses her brother who, despite being very strict, was very kind. She further said that this was not the first tragedy faced by her family.

She told us that Jason Almendarez, 27, gunned down on Jasmine Street on October 10, and Shaquan Almendarez, 25, gunned down on Electric Avenue on October 22, were her cousins.

Lamb, a long-time employee at Cox Tire Shop on Vernon Street, leaves behind two stepchildren. The day after he was murdered, he was scheduled to visit his stepson, Carrel Sanchez, 19, who last Thursday was remanded to prison for last Wednesday’s armed robbery of a gas pump attendant at the BELCHINA Uno Gas Station.
