CrimeThief busted after robbing men on Fabers Road

A thief who held up three men at gunpoint on Fabers Road is in custody pending charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, handling stolen goods, and keeping a sawed-off shotgun.

The incident occurred at about 4:45 p.m. today on Fabers Road. Three men told police that they were walking in the Fabers Road Extension area, near the junction of the Philip Goldson Highway, when a man rode up on a bicycle and held them up with a gun.

The gunman searched them and stole their cellphones, along with a bunch of keys, and he then rode away, the men said.

The men quickly alerted police, who were on patrol in the area, and police conducted an area search and saw a man fitting the description of the robber.

The man was detained and after a search of the area where he was found, police recovered the three phones stolen from the men.

The suspect was then taken to his father’s home on Swanker Street in the Fabers Road area, where police found the bunch of keys stolen from the three men, and also, a homemade sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun with one round of ammunition inside.

According to a police press release, the suspect “was identified as a 17-year-old of Fairweather Street.”

Police said that they are seeking the suspected robber’s accomplice.
