BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Apr. 13, 2023

Hello, my beautiful cricket family! Under the auspices of the Belize National Cricket Association, the Barry Bowen /Harrison Parks Cricket Competition 2023 continues. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Following are matches played just before the Easter Break. So, let’s get into the games.

Starting with Surprise against Western Eagles in Lemonal. Surprise went in to bat first, and boy, did the batsmen have a glorious day. As much as Marquis McNab performed well in taking 5 of Surprise stumps, at the fall of the last wicket, the team scored a whopping 310 runs. That’s a lot of runs. Of that amount, Leeron Muslar scored 108.

Well, after a short lunch break, the Eagles took to bat. With the pressure off Kenroy Reynolds and 13-year-old Pharon Muslar bowling, who took 5 and 4 wickets each, respectively, Western Eagles could only score 89. At this time, Western Eagles is yet to win a game. However, the team is made up of many youths. But, apart from losing, the team is demonstrating very excellent sportsmanship.

Let it be known that the beautiful village of Lemonal continues to produce excellent cricketers. 13-year-old Pharon played his very first game, and bowled so well by taking 3 wickets in his first over, and another in the next over. Well done, young cricketer!

In other matches, Wicked Eleven took care of Brilliant quite easily. Brilliant took to bat first and scored 129, with Jermaine Smith scoring 40. Tayshaun Moses took 4 of Brilliant wickets. Wicked Eleven went to bat, and at the fall of 6 wickets the score was beaten. Travis Robinson scored 37.

Golden Eagles put a big one over Rising Star, 236 to 54. For Rising Star, Kenton Vacaro scored 19, and Andy Dominguez took 3 wickets. For the Golden boys, Jermaine Pook took 6 wickets and also scored 46 runs. Good showing so far, Golden boys!

Brave Union lost to Big Bad Tropical Disturbance, 65 to 61 with 6 spare wickets. For Brave Union, Conway Jones scored 43, and Tyrel Young took 3 wickets. For Tropical Disturbance, Herbert Banner scored 17 and took 7 wickets also.

BDF wasn’t too kind on Sunrise when they defeated Sunrise 207 to 93. For BDF, Clinton Stephenson scored 43, white Jervis Wade took 6 wickets. For Sunrise, Cornel Brown scored 29, and Sunil Wadhwani took 4 wickets.

St. Paul’s Strikers, the king of Zone Two so far, defeated Progressive, 260 to 154. For the Strikers, Francis Stevens scored 87, and Lloyd Cassasola took 3 wickets. For Progressive, Raheem Garbutt took 3 wickets. Brave 11 Reloaded continues to spark flame along with Dirk Sutherland at the HELM, as they devoured Long Journey, 142 to 141 with 4 spare wickets. For Brave 11, Sherman McCulloch and Dirk Sutherland scored 53 and 32, respectively, and Jerome Pook took 3 wickets. Dirk Sutherland was named Man of that Match.

It was brought to my knowledge that the match between Excellence and Summa Feva did not play, but Feva was awarded the game.

If all goes as planned for this weekend, the following games are on schedule for this weekend:

On Saturday – Wicked Eleven vs Summa Feva at Landing; Excellence vs Brilliant at Crooked Tree; Surprise vs BDF at BDF; Brave Union Boys vs Rising Star at Sandhill; Progressive vs Brave 11 Reloaded at Willows.

On Sunday – Tropical Disturbance vs Golden Eagles at Rancho; and St. Paul’s Strikers vs Weekend Warriors at Flowers Bank.

Show respect even to people who don’t deserve it; not a reflection of their character, but a reflection of yours.
