When they told him that they did not have any money, the man pulled out a machete and chopped them both across their heads, and then fled with their money?a total of $3, which he took from them, police said.


Police later arrested Nelson Acosta, 21, unemployed, of College Road, Corozal Town.


Yesterday, Acosta appeared in the Corozal Magistrate?s Court, where he was arraigned on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of use of deadly means of harm, two counts of dangerous harm, and two counts of robbery.


Magistrate Emerita Ascoli, who presided over the court, remanded him to the Hattieville Prison until Tuesday, March 1, when he is scheduled to reappear in court.


Sergeant Eugene Phillips was the prosecuting officer.
