MONKEY RIVER, Toledo District, Mon. June 24, 2019– Two hundred and fifty gallons of aviation fuel was found in plastic drums in an area of Monkey River.

ACP Joseph Myvett said that Independence police were alerted of a plane seen flying low in the area of Monkey River and they went to see what was happening, but on their arrival, they saw no plane. On searching the area, police found the plastic drums containing aviation fuel.

The aviation fuel was taken to the police station, where it has been secured.

An investigation has begun to find out who owns the fuel. Myvett said that it is an offense to be in possession of AV fuel without special permission from the authorities.
