The daring robbery of Scotiabank in Spanish Lookout on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, still has the police busy tracking down the robbers.
  
On April 1, police formally arrested and charged Juan Salazar, 40, laborer of Camalote village, Cayo district and Michael Rodriguez, 25, surveyor of San Ignacio. Salazar was charged for the crimes of abetment to commit robbery and failed to prevent a felony, and Rodriguez was charged for the crimes of failed to prevent a felony and conspiracy to commit robbery.
  
Continuing with the investigation, police formally arrested and charged Frank Edwards, 21, fisherman of San Mateo Area, San Pedro Town for the crimes of murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery on April 3. Based on the information of the charges it is suspected that it was Edwards who shot and killed the security guard, Steven Lopez, with the shot gun.
  
On April 4, four other people were charged with the crime of handling stolen goods. Those persons, police believe, were handling monies that were a part of the amount stolen from the Scotia Bank. Those people are Austin Mungquia, 21, Waiter, Ervin Fernandez, 19, laborer, Luis Hernandez, 29, laborer, and Isolina Perez, 41, domestic. All four persons charged are of San Ignacio Town, Cayo District.
  
The police reported that they have recovered $30,965.00 in Belize currency, so far.  However, Gabriel Salazar, Alexander Edwards, Benjamin Peters and another believed to be from Melchor, Guatemala have so far evaded capture.
