Police said in a report that the two girls were reportedly on their way home to a village in the Corozal District when two men they knew offered them a ride home. The girls told police that because they knew the men, they felt it was safe to accept the ride.

Instead of taking the girls home as promised, however, the men drove to a secluded area before reaching the village, and both men raped the girls.

Meanwhile, in Benque Viejo del Carmen, police are today investigating the violent rape of a minor. The ten-year-old rape victim was reportedly attacked yesterday morning while she was babysitting her two younger siblings at home. Her father, 34, was out fishing at the time.

He told police that when he got home around 2:00 p.m., he found his daughter lying in a hammock, vomiting. She had severe bruises all over her body. The girl?s father then took her to the San Ignacio Hospital, where she was admitted to ward, and a doctor certified that she had been raped.

The child told police that her attacker was a Hispanic man, who was wearing a black cap, a blue shirt and blue jeans pants.

Police said that they are questioning a number of people in an effort to identify the rapist. Anyone that has any information on this incident is asked to call the nearest police station.
