Tillett was in his underwear. Mendez, who was lying naked beside him, was stabbed in the right side of her neck. According to reports, she avoided further injury by taking refuge inside the bathroom that adjoins the bedroom. Reports say that the assailant, in a fit of jealous rage, kicked open the door of Tillett?s room, which was locked with a lock that was not safe. When the police arrived at the scene about 10:45 p.m., they saw bloodstains all over the room and Tillett lying on the bed, apparently dead. They reported that they retrieved a nail file from the floor. Mendez was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital, where she is reported to be in a stable condition. Shortly after the incident, police detained Kimberly Brannon, 35, a mother of two, and charged her with murder, attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm. Brannon was arraigned on these charges when she appeared in the Belize City Magistrate?s Court. She was remanded into custody until June 27. Tillett was the caretaker of Catt?s Poolroom.
