Everyone in the house thought that Darwin went to bed and was sleeping, but apparently something was bothering him.
Darwin searched the house, got a rope and exited the house. He tied the rope on an orange tree that was in the front yard, and hanged himself.
Darwin?s older brother, Henry Fernandez, got up later that morning around 6:00 and went outside to the front of the yard. There, he discovered his brother hanging from the tree.
Police arrived on the scene around 6:10 a.m. and observed Fernandez?s lifeless body lying on the ground.
According to police, Fernandez was having problems with his girlfriend, with whom he was in an off-and-on relationship.
Fernandez was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
On Tuesday, November 22, at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, a post-mortem performed on Fernandez confirmed that he died due to asphyxia from hanging.
