Amara/Mex Avenue shooting leaves two hospitalized

GeneralAmara/Mex Avenue shooting leaves two hospitalized

According to both men, while they were standing at the corner of the avenues, they saw two dark-skinned men on bicycles coming towards them, from the direction of Mex Avenue, where Stanford Bridge is located.

Amandala visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where we spoke with both shooting victims, who were undergoing X-rays to determine the severity of their wounds.

Norales said that he had noticed the two young men when they first circled them 5 minutes before the shooting. Minutes later, they both returned with black objects in their hands, he recalled.

Norales said that immediately, he realized that the men had guns in their hands, so he dropped to the ground.

He heard about five to six shoots ring out as he ran to seek refuge in a nearby yard.

Michael said when he saw the two men, he thought they were just looking for someone, but thought that whomever the men were looking for wasn?t around, because they left shortly afterwards.

He continued talking with Chester and quickly, both men returned and began shooting at them, he said.

A spray of bullets came their way, recalled Michael, and he ran into a nearby yard to hide, but one of the bullets caught him in his neck.

Doctor Derrick Mena, a medical officer at the KHMH, told Amandala tonight that the bullet only grazed Reynold?s neck, causing a superficial wound.

Norales received a bullet wound to his upper right thigh, said Dr. Mena. The bullet was lodged in the lateral part of the thighbone, but it did not fracture any bones, he explained.

Both men will be admitted to ward overnight for antibiotic treatment; they are expected to be discharged tomorrow, said Dr. Mena.

Police said that they still don?t know the motive for the shooting.

Both Chester Norales and Reynold Michael said that they believe the men?s intended target was someone else, as they have had no misunderstanding with anyone.
