Clean morning jack – “more than” 30 grand!

HeadlineClean morning jack – “more than” 30 grand!
Last Friday morning a precision jacking occurred on the Northside of Belize City. When shots were fired on Freetown Road, in the vicinity of Cellular Plus store, two security guards from J&B Security took cover inside the Toyota Camry in which they were travelling from the Alliance Bank on Princess Margaret Drive heading for the National Fishermen Cooperative Society. The cooperative is located at Angel Lane, just off North Front Street and west of City Hall.

The two guards, one of whom is Joseph Meighan, Jr., 18, the son of the owner of J&B Security, and another employee who has eighteen years of security experience under his belt, left their money bag in their vehicle, as they took shelter in a nearby store. The money bag contained in excess of thirty thousand dollars. That was the week’s payroll for the National Fisherman Cooperative Society Limited.

The jackers, who had ambushed the security company’s vehicle using two vehicles of their own, attempted to steal the company’s Toyota Camry in an effort to escape. The Camry ended up crashing into a fence.

According to one Mrs. Bradley from the Cooperative, the security company gets money from time to time for them. In this instance, the money was to pay the salary of the over forty employees and many lobster fishermen.

When asked how much money had been stolen in the heist, Mrs. Bradley said that she could not disclose how much was stolen, but when asked if it was more than thirty thousand dollars, she admitted that it was more.

Getting information from J&B Security proved to be an extremely difficult undertaking. No one at the company’s office, located on the Blake Building on Eyre Street, wanted to answer any questions relating to the major daylight jacking.

When Amandala turned up at their office this morning, a lady who identified herself as Mrs. Meighan, said: Joseph Meighan is not in a position to talk right now. When it was pointed out to her that she should let Joseph decide that, she replied that she was his mother and she knows that he cannot entertain an interview right now.

When Amandala called in the afternoon, we were told that Joseph was in a meeting. Another call and Joseph was finally on the line.

Can you tell us what happened on Friday, he was asked?

“I cannot speak to you right now, because my father is not here,” the voice at the other end blurted out.

But it was not your father who was jacked, Amandala pressed on.

Anyway, he replied, I don’t want to speak on the phone; if you come over, I will speak to you.

When Amandala showed up less than twenty minutes later, the security guard at the door said hold on; let me see if he is here.

But upon his return, he looked dejected, as he said, “Mr. Meighan is busy right now.”

A check with the police confirmed that they had no suspect(s) in custody.
