Empty water pipes in Valley of Peace!!!

LettersEmpty water pipes in Valley of Peace!!!
Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Dear Sir,

I am a sixth form student and a resident of Valley of Peace in the Cayo District.  My reason for writing is because I am very concerned about the unavailability of water in the village for over a month or more.

I am not sure if efforts are being made by the village leaders or the Water Board to try to restore the water in the village.  But as far as I am concerned, very little effort has been made.

This problem has been happening over the past couple years.  We need water in our homes and in the schools.  Students and workers are having a very tough time coping with the situation we are facing.    I understood that water has been pumped to the village, but at a certain time, and it is not reaching every home.

A few homes in certain areas are getting water, but at only a certain time of the night.  Constant pumping is needed so as to have water available 24/7 for over 2,000 plus residents of the village.  The wells that are being accessed right now are not healthy.

I want to urge the village leaders or the water board or even the area representative to get their acts together and look into the matter as soon as possible and restore the water, because it has been a while now the village is without water.

Thanks.

Japhet Salam.
