Police are investigating a foiled kidnapping attempt made today on the daughter and nieces of Minister of National Security, Hon. Carlos Perdomo. While relatives declined comment to Amandala when we contacted them this evening, our newspaper is reliably informed that there was an attempt at a Northside high school earlier today by a man in a van to kidnap the daughter of Minister Perdomo, reportedly mistaken for her cousin.
Police have so far made no official report of the incident.
One media house reported tonight that surveillance tapes from nearby may be able to provide police with some information on the incident involving a blue van and a white car not too far behind it.
This kidnapping attempt was thwarted because the girls alerted school officials, who responded immediately in contacting the family, and advised them that they should not leave with the man inside the van.
The man, who has not been identified to us, had claimed he was going to take the girls to their home, but fortunately for them, the girls did not buy the story.
