Crime19-year-old woman charged with attempted murder

This morning, 19-year-old Stacey Jones, an unemployed resident of #10 Victoria Street in Belize City, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court after she allegedly injured another female in an early morning stabbing incident on October 11, 2013, on North Front Street in Belize City.

Jones, who was unrepresented, appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano, where she was read three charges. Jones was charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of grievous harm, and one count of use of deadly means of harm upon Acteshia Nunez.

Police say that they visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital trauma room early Friday morning, at about 1:30, and saw Nunez suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper part of her body.

Nunez reported to them that she got into an altercation with Jones, who pulled a knife and stabbed her several times, causing the injuries. There is as yet no available information about what led to the stabbing.

Stacey Jones was denied bail due to the nature of the offenses, and was therefore remanded to the Belize Central Prison until November 29, 2013, when she is due back in court.
