Neal Pen Road man shot in Junesville

CrimeNeal Pen Road man shot in Junesville

A resident of Neal Pen Road in the Lake I area has become the second person shot in the area within three days, in the seemingly never-ending gun violence being perpetrated in Belize City by feuding gangs.

Police said that at about 9:30 last night, Tuesday, Kingsley Ferguson, 30, of Neal Pen Road Extension, was standing in front of a house on Jones Street in the Junesville area of Lake I, when two men riding on one bicycle rode into Jones Street from off Administration Drive and rode toward him.

When they drew near to him, the man who was riding on the handlebars of the bicycle fired a shot at Ferguson, hitting him in the right side of the face. The bullet exited through the left side of the jaw.

The two men continued their ride towards Mackay Boulevard and escaped into the surrounding area. The neighbors found Ferguson on the ground and rushed him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He has now been declared to be in a serious but stable condition.

Police found a slug and a 9mm expended shell at the scene. An investigation has begun, but so far the two men have not been found.

At about 9:30 Sunday night, Ephraim Cal, 22, of Miller Street in the Gungulung area of Lake I, was sitting with four other men on the bleachers of the basketball court in the area behind the Charles Bartlett Hyde Complex Building on Mahogany Street Extension when an unknown gunman went into the area behind them and shot Cal five times in various parts of the body.

Cal is recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, and is in a serious but stable condition. Police said that the shooting was gang-related.
