Belikin 8-Ball Tournament in Belmopan

Week 4 of the Belikin 8-Ball Tournament concluded in Belmopan at Mike’s Cue Club on Sunday, July 6, with two exciting matches. Let’s look at the results:

Match #1: Special Effects won BRC Shooters, 3-2. For Special Effects, Edmund Guy won Tim Banman, 4-3, in a truly breath-taking match; Oscar Avelar won Jose Palma, 4-2; and Salvador Orellana won Roberto Sanabria, also 4-2. In the losing effort for BRC Shooters, Clifford King blanked Ernest Borland, 4-0; and Elroy Grinage defeated Julio Hernandez, 4-3.

Match #2: Twin Stars won Bario Fino, 3-2. For Twin Stars, David Gongora won Arturo Pelayo, 4-3, in a really thrilling match; Marvin Yam won Cyrus Mira, 4-3, but this was not an easy one; and Thomas Myers won Stanley Mira, 4-2. In the losing effort for Bario Fino, Ernest Turner turned it up to win Mario Lopez, 4-3; and Brian Mira dropped Sam Yam, 4-2.

Due to the World Cup match, games continue on Sunday, July 13, at 4:00 p.m., after the World Cup finals, at Mike’s Cue Club in Belmopan.

Reminder: The champ will represent Belmopan in the National Tournament in San Ignacio on August 30 and 31 at Hode’s Place.

STANDINGS to date: Shattaz – 24 pts; BRC Shooters – 20 pts; Special Effects – 16 pts; Twin Stars and Bario Fino – 10 pts each, but Bario Fino has the better record, having played one game less than Twin Stars team.
