LADYVILLE – Richard Gregory Goodfellow, 22, a resident of Perez Road in Ladyville, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the body and head.
His body was found at about 8:30 last night on the side of the Hattieville-Boom Road about one hundred yards away from the Boom Bridge when travelling from the junction of the Philip Goldson Highway and the Burrell Boom Road, towards Hattieville. He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival at about 12:40 this morning.
Sometime after 8:00 last night, residents of the Hattieville Boom Road alerted police that shots were being fired in the area. Police responded to the reports and went into the area, and that was when they found the lifeless body of a male person lying on the roadside. He was dressed in a red t-shirt, a pair of long blue jeans pants with a “Phat Farm” logo, and a pair of grey and black tennis shoes.
Police recovered five 9mm expended shells from near the body.
The motive for the murder is yet unknown, and the killer or killers have not yet been found.
Speculations, however, are that Goodfellow may not have been killed where his body was found. Goodfellow was someone the police knew, and had been charged and taken to court a number of times.
Inspector Fredrick Gordon, Officer Commanding Ladyville police, said that they have launched an investigation into the murder.
