Woman’s flu symptoms led to her death

HeadlineWoman’s flu symptoms led to her death

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. May 3, 2018– A woman from Camalote never expected that what started off as the flu would escalate into something fatal.

Carolina Williams, 31, became sick after she returned from a trip to Punta Gorda. According to her husband, Thaddeus Williams, Carolina began experiencing high fever and severe bodily pain. When she began to bleed from the nose, Carolina was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

However, when she arrived there, doctors told the couple that she had arrived “too late,” and Carolina ultimately passed away from double pneumonia.

Amandala tried to get in contact with the hospital’s PR representative, but he declined to comment on the case.

A few weeks ago, April 16, Amandala reported on another fatal case of double pneumonia. Inspector Nicholas Palomo, 42, who was the deputy commander of Orange Walk police, died after seeking medical attention on the night of April 15 at the KHMH as well.

Attempts to speak with epidemiologist Dr. Manzanero to get his opinion on the cases, were unsuccessful.
