Police do not yet know if remains found in burned-down structures off the Banana Bank road are those of Davidson

BELMOPAN, Tues. May 22, 2018– Last Friday, we reported a case of suspected arson on the Jordan Ranch road, which is located off the Banana Bank road on the George Price Highway. Four wooden structures that were clustered together were set on fire, and human remains were found among the debris.

The structures had belonged to British national Bruce Davidson (age unknown), who was living there, but there was no evidence that identified him as the dead person.

The latest reports are that police have made a breakthrough in the case. In a police press brief held today, ASP Alejandro Cowo stated that Belmopan police, acting on information they had received, found Davidson’s phone and other electronic items in an abandoned house in Roaring Creek.

In addition, police have charged Roaring Creek residents Ealsine Gentle, 39, a laborer; Stephanie Cruz, 41, a domestic worker; and a 17-year-old minor with handling stolen goods.

Gentle, Cruz and the minor were arraigned on May 22 and remanded until May 31. Police are also looking for another person, David Cruz, in connection with the case.

A further investigation led police to Davidson’s Mahindra pickup truck, which was found at an abandoned dumpsite on the Hummingbird Highway, about a mile away from Belmopan. The vehicle had been destroyed by fire.

Police are waiting on DNA test results to confirm that the charred human remains that were found in one of the wooden structures are indeed those of Davidson.
