AUGUST PINERIDGE, Orange Walk District, Mon. June 17, 2019– Road traffic accidents claimed the lives of two men in two separate incidents. The two persons who lost their lives in the traffic collisions are Castellanos Mendoza, 33 and Yancey Nelvio Eck, 30, both the father of three children.

Police said that Mendoza was driving his vehicle from August Pine Ridge to Trinidad at about 9:00 p.m.  Friday night when he lost control of the vehicle and it ran off the road and slammed into a culvert, causing it to overturn.
As a result, Mendoza suffered massive head and body injuries. He was recovered and taken to the Northern Regional Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, and he was then rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, but died shortly after his arrival while doctors were trying to help him.

Then at about 8:30 last night, Yancey Eck was riding his bicycle on the road to San Narciso when he was knocked down by a vehicle being driven at the time by Jorge Cawich.

Eck suffered massive head and body injuries. He was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
