BELIZE CITY, Sun. July 14, 2019– Yesterday, Saturday, the Smart 13 & Under Mundialito 2018-2019 Closing Season entered its knockout playoff stage, with the top 8 teams from the 12 that started the competition, engaging in 4 quarterfinal games, beginning at 10:00 a.m.; and then in the afternoon, the 4 winners moved on to the semifinals. Two games at a time were played on Fields 1 and 2, using half of the MCC pitch for each game.

Quarterfinals results

Ladyville Rising Stars dropped Stars Academy, 4-nil, with 2 goals apiece from Kenrick Gordon and Marvin Card.

Heights FC and Reality Youth played to a 1-1 draw in regulation, as Kenark Kenroy scored for Heights, and Tayshawn Gillett netted for Reality Youth. The ensuing penalty shootout went all the way to sudden-death, where Heights FC emerged victorious.

Brown Bombers won, 3-1, over Warriors FC. Fladen Carter scored 2 goals, and Brandon Rogers scored 1 for Brown Bombers; while Joshua Espinoza scored for Warriors FC.

And City Boys shut out Carlston (Elite Jr.), 3-nil, with 1 goal apiece from Calvin Thurton, Tyrone Alvarez and Tom Moguel.

Semifinals results

In the semifinals, Ladyville Rising Stars clipped Heights FC, 1-nil, on a goal by Kenrick Gordon. And City Boys won, 2-nil, over Brown Bombers, with a goal each from Calvin Thurton and Tom Moguel.

The stage is now set for the championship finals, to be preceded by the third-place game on Saturday.
