SportsPalas, “The Black Rocket” sweeps weekend races in Merida

BELIZE CITY, Wed. Dec. 4, 2019– Belizean cyclist, Fitzgerald “Palas”Joseph, a.k.a. “The Black Rocket”, reported to us that he just won 3 races in Merida over the weekend. The 53 year-old Palas, who recently returned with a Silver medal from Dominican Republic, said he participated in 3 “Master B” races in the 3-stage “Vuelta a Yucatan” in Merida – a 10.5-mile Individual Time Trial on Saturday morning, a 50-mile Road Race on Saturday afternoon, and another 50-mile Road Race on Sunday morning; and he won all 3. “I’m at a different level,” said Palas. “Those guys already told me, I’m above my age group; so I need to start riding with the lower age groups. I’m too much for my age in sports. Imagine that!?”

Palas’ teammate, Stephen Bisset was 5th overall; and Mexican rider Elias Dogre, riding for Team Santino’s, was 4th. (See feature picture)

Palas, as well as the inaugural 1991 Krem Classic champion, Michael Lewis, will be in the line-up at the start for the 30th anniversary of the Krem New Year’s Day Cycling Classic on January 1, 2020.
