Cab driver murdered in Sugar City

HeadlineCab driver murdered in Sugar City

ORANGE WALK TOWN, Mon. May 4, 2020– Mathias Alpuche, 54, a cab driver, was found dead in his cab in the Honey Camp area of Orange Walk Town, at about 6:30 yesterday evening.

He was found in the driver’s seat of his car with multiple stab wounds in his chest, neck and abdomen, and he was soaked in pools of his blood. At the Northern Regional Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.

Information to us is that the car was seen swerving across the road, and after it was parked by the roadside, a man of Hispanic descent, wearing a red T-shirt, jumped out of the front passenger seat and ran into the bushes.

People who were in the area then went to the car to see what was happening, and that was when they saw the cab driver, identified as Mathias Alpuche, slumped behind his steering wheel; his engine was still running.

Police were called and he was taken to the hospital. They have begun an investigation into the murder.
