GeneralIllegal Honduran is COVID-19 case #24

BELIZE CITY, Fri. June 26, 2020– The Director of Health Services (DHS), Dr. Marvin Manzanero, reported today, Friday, that another positive case of COVID-19 has been identified after the results of another batch of tests were issued.

While information on the person who tested positive has not been forthcoming, the DHS confirmed that the individual is a Honduran national who had entered Belizean waters illegally.

The positive case was found in a batch of 87 samples that were processed today. The individual, whom the DHS said is asymptomatic, has been placed in quarantine.

“We currently have another recovered case for a total of three active cases. These tests also include a second negative test for those completing their 14-day quarantine, and they are being released today,” said Manzanero, who added that “our enhanced surveillance continues.”

Presently, the novel coronavirus has spread to 215 countries worldwide, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported.

Additionally, the coronavirus has infected over 10 million persons worldwide and has claimed over half a million lives.

WHO also reported that 57.707 persons are listed as being in critical condition due to the COVID-19 virus.
